It's been a while, but both the Magistrate and his apprentice have been on the road. News: Bill's done; steroids killed Mark and kept Vic barely within range for the rest of us; Hamilton has not stopped sucking; Fielder's stretch slump could cost a couple people money ...
I'll do posts once a week thru September ...
1) (1) Green Sox (Vic): Gonzalez (HR) 16; Dunn (HR) 28; Cabrera (RBI) 120 [60] = 104
A weak Gonzo and a below average Dunn doesn't seem to matter if you have Cabrera in the RBI slot.
2) (3) In-Stitches (Bonnie): Fielder (HR) 19; Davis (HR) 45; Hamilton (RBI) 60 [30] = 94
Somehow the Hamilton anchor hasn't stopped this squad. Outside shot to take it all ...
3 (2) Maddoning Crowd (Rob): Encarnacion (HR) 31; Freeman (HR) 15; Encarnacion (RBI) 95 [47.5] = 93.5
Same as above: an outside shot to win it all. It'll probably take a big September from both guys here to do it, though.
4) (4) Sharks (Mark): Cabrera (HR) 40; Beltre (HR) 25; Utley (RBI) 45 [22.5] = 87.5
Braun's an a-hole who has ruined it for everyone else here. These guys could take 2nd, though ...
5) (5) Bushmills League (Kevin): Bautista (HR) 28; Bruce (HR) 24; Eithier (RBI) 44 [22] = 74
Few RBIs, no bueno.
6) (6) Garvey's Army (Steve): Puig (HR) 11; Hamilton (HR) 19; Fielder (RBI) 85 [42.5] = 72.5
Could move up a slot. Outside shot at 3rd. Fielder needs to find his swing again, though ...
7) (8) Steroids Error (Eric & Laurel): Bulter (HR) 12; Cespedes (HR) 20; Gonzalez (RBI) 76 [38] =
70
Too little across the board. I guess Laurel makes the picks next season ...
8) (7) Wassailing Piscators (Bill): DL Pujols (HR) 17; Heywood (HR) 13; DL Pujols (RBI) 64 [32] =62
Broken players = Broken team ...
